Marty E. Williams
Marty Williams is a Senior Affiliated Consultant with Kemper Consulting. Mr. Williams served in the Virginia Senate for twelve years, chairing the Senate Transportation Committee and the Joint Republican Caucus. Prior to serving in the Virginia Senate, he served on the Newport News City Council where he was Vice Mayor. Mr. Williams also serves as President of River City Strategies LLC; a Richmond based consulting firm specializing in private sector development services. In 2014, Mr. Williams was appointed by Governor Terry McAuliffe to serve on the Commonwealth Transportation Board.
Mr. Williams is a proven specialist in business development and public relations, with extensive experience in both the private sector and public service. In over 18 years as an elected official, he has acquired a thorough understanding of the interests and operations of all levels of government and maintains key relationships with decision makers at both local and state levels. Through his service in Virginia’s unique “citizen legislature”, Mr. Williams was able to develop firsthand knowledge of Virginia’s government structure, process and culture. During his tenure in state government, he worked closely with all state agencies either through serving constituents, or having direct interaction with agency leaders through the legislative process. He was viewed as a trusted authority on matters of environmental policy as well as efficiency and public-private sector partnerships.
